Putting People First in Old Bexley & Sidcup

Time to tackle knife crime and anti-social behaviour head on

12.48.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 29th May 2008

Commenting on the sad death of Robert Knox in a callous knife attack, the stabbing of a Sidcup publican and the knife battle in Bromley this week, Duncan Borrowman said: "These appalling acts all happened in very different circumstances, but we must act. As well as removing knives off our streets, and I support the London Mayor and the Police in their actions to do this, we must change the culture of our pubs and clamp down on excessive drinking and the 'lad' mentality that has swept through many of them. Many pubs and bars are no longer pleasant places to go. The licensees need to regain control and we must end violent and aggressive behaviour."
