Old Bexley & Sidcup Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate Duncan Borrowman has labelled the consultation process on Post Offices closures a sham, following news that 7 branches across have been saved and 155 are to close across London. Including two in Bexley Borough - Brampton Road and Foots Cray.

"By the end of the current closure programme, termed Network Change, Labour will have overseen the closure of almost 7,000 post offices - 11 offices for every single week in power. The consultation is window-dressing, Labour are hell bent on closing Post Offices. It is a sham.

The Conservatives now claim to oppose the closures, but they shut 3,500 post offices when they were in office. But they have no serious proposals to revive the post office network.

The Liberal Democrats have a properly thought through and costed programme, which would deliver £2 billion of extra resources to keep post offices open and, where necessary, to open others."
