Liberal Democrats Celebrate Election Success

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 13th Jun 2004

Bexley & Bromley Liberal Democrats are celebrating success in the June 10th elections.

Labour were humiliated in our local GLA seat, slipping from second place in 2000 to FOURTH, behind UKIP. Duncan Borrowman claimed second place for the Liberal Democrats - Bexley & Bromley was the only GLA seat London without a Lib Dem MP or a Lib Dem run council where the Lib Dems came second.

There was more good news in the European elections, where Sarah Ludford comfortably retained her seat in the European Parliament.

Commenting, Duncan Borrowman said "I'd like to thank the 29,000+ voters who placed their trust in me. This is a great result for the Liberal Democrats, and one that should give no comfort to Labour or the Conservatives."
